Below Deck Med’s Captain Sandy thinks Season 8 cast lied about their illnesses
BravoCaptain Sandy just accused the Below Deck Med Season 8 cast of lying about being sick in order to not work.
While Season 8 of Below Deck Mediterranean did end up being fairly successful, sickness almost got in the way of that.
Over the course of the season, everyone from Lead Deckhand Lara Du Preez to Deckhand Hayleigh Gorman was escorted off of the yacht and away from work to go to the doctor after falling ill. Even Steward Kyle Viljoen came down with something and at one point, collapsed onto the ground.
Because it is a boat and sea sickness does happen (also the occasional feeling of the cast feeling hungover), leaving to see a medic isn’t uncommon among the stars of the show, but this season arguably had more sick leaves than most. But, if you ask Captain Sandy Yawn, she’s not buying their excuse.
Captain Sandy calls out Below Deck Med Season 8 cast
On January 22, both Captain Sandy and Chief Stewardess Tumi Mhlongo made an appearance on Watch What Happens Live! With Andy Cohen.
During their segment, Andy had them play a game called You’re Toast where they had to truthfully answer his questions.
One of his many questions was ‘Which crew member do you think was being overly dramatic about their ailment?’ a clear reference to all of the absences from Season 8.
“Well you know I said to Leah “When they get tired, they get sick. They just want a good night’s sleep, was Captain Sandy’s answer.
Tumi did not say anything to her in response, which makes sense since she was one of the only crew members to not call out sick during the season. None of the Season 8 has publicly responded to her comment as of yet.
