Below Deck Season 11 Episode 3 recap: Breaking Barbie
BravoBelow Deck Season 11 is underway and the crew turbulence seems to have somewhat settled after their first night out. Here is a brief recap of episode 3 titled ‘Breaking Barbie’.
Below Deck Season 11 premiered on 5 February on Bravo TV and was made available to stream on Peacock a day after. Here are some of the highlights from Below Deck Season 11 episode 3.
In the last episode, the crew had problems adjusting to each other, and Captain Kerry was frustrated because the team’s performance was affected.
In episode 3, after a tiring first charter, the crew heads out for their night together – however, the bonding time doesn’t solve the rocky relationship between the two Stews.
Below Deck boatmances gained momentum
After an eventful charter, the crew went off-board for some well-deserved fun times, which turned out to be simply wholesome. The crew had dinner together while getting to know each other deeply.
“I grew up with three nannies all the time. One would cook, one would clean, and one would do my hair,” the Argentinian bombshell, Barbie, revealed during the dinner.
Later the castmates had a moment dancing in the rain, and the viewers could see romance blooming between Ben and Sunny as they swayed under the rain together.
Kyle hinted to Fraser that he might be getting serious about Barbie, saying: “She’s the kinda girl I would take home to my mom.”
Kyle was not the only Ken interested in Barbie that night, because the Bosun Jared tried flirting with her on the way back to the yacht. He said, “I don’t know you from a can of paint, but I like the fact that when I look in your eyes, I find truth.” Barbie found it hilarious and laughed.
When Kyle woke up the next morning the first thing he did was exclaim to Ben that he might be in love with Barbie.
On the same night, things got heated between Sunny and Ben after partying in the hot tub, and the pair head down to the cabins to make out.
Below Deck crew tried to pull through
When Captain Kerry made his morning rounds he was surprised to find that the deck was clean after a crew night out. Jared stepped up and explained that he had been up since 6 am to make that possible.
“Good on you, Jared! He’s made some mistakes. He dropped the ball this last charter, but I do feel he’s stepping up. I’m happy with where we are right now,” Captain Kerry revealed during a confessional.
The stewardess, Cat, had been developing a Mean Girl dynamic with her crewmate Barbie who kept complaining about the stewardess’ work quality. But Fraser found Cat overwhelmed and crying her eyes out on deck. She said, “I don’t know if I’m, like, showing you how much I can do because I’m in this leverage position.”
Cat opened up more to Fraser and told him how she and her brother were orphaned at a very young age, and then separated in the foster care system. She was adopted into an abusive household and had to cut contact with them at 18.
Fraser understood that Cat was a sensitive person and that her clash with Barbie was triggering her. He asked Xiandi to support and train the new stewardess. He asked Barbie to be extra sensitive to Cat and respect her feelings.
Fraser shared his past work experiences to give Cat some moral support. He said, “On my first day, the Chief Engineer had found out that I was gay and was very homophobic. While I was washing up dishes in the sink, he poured his boiling hot tea that I’d just made for him over my hand”
“I looked down, and I just said to myself, ‘Keep f*cking going, cause one day none of this will f*cking matter, and you’re gonna be the top. And one day, you’ll get him fired.’ And one day, I did.”
Barbie got herself in trouble with the Chief
After being told to be nicer to Cat, Barbie felt underappreciated on the team and started giving attitude to her superior.
During a confessional, she said: “I’m sick of him [Fraser]. He’s such a di**k! I’m about five minutes away from losing control.”
She ignored Fraser when he tried to instruct her, but the Chief Stew let her know that her attitude would not be tolerated.
After being confronted directly Barbie said, “You’re not making me feel phenomenal. You’re treating me like I’m this b*tch.”
“You are a b*tch to me,” Fraser snapped back.
Later Fraser took it up to Captain Kerry letting him know that he was done with Barbie.
After February 5, 2024, Below Deck Season 11 episodes are set to air every Monday at 9 pm ET/PT on Bravo TV and Peacock.
