Below Deck’s Cat & Jared slammed for “trauma dumping” on the crew
BravoCat Baugh and Jared Woodin shared traumatic personal stories on Below Deck Season 11, but fans think it’s bringing the crew down.
Stewardess Cat Baugh and Bosun Jared Woodin aren’t having the easiest time on Below Deck Season 11.
Cat revealed that she was placed in a foster home as a teenager after her parents passed away, and was separated from her biological brother for five years.
Jared was in a relationship with a woman and got her pregnant, but she moved to Alaska with their daughter, and he’s only able to speak to her during designated times.
Fans argue that both Below Deck crew members have let their personal lives get in the way of doing their jobs well, and their coworkers are noticing a shift on the boat.
Below Deck fans believe Cat & Jared got “bad advice” about being on TV
On Reddit, Below Deck viewers believe that Cat and Jared’s traumas are affecting the crew and bringing them down.
“Someone needs to do a count of how many times Cat mentions being in the foster system throughout the season,” one user wrote.
“I’m all for sharing your story, but the amount of trauma dumping this crew is giving us is depressing,” another fan added.
“I feel like her and Jared got bad advice about being on TV, since they both have tragic one dimensional backstories,” a different fan agreed.
Below Deck brings together crew members from various parts of the world with different backgrounds, but fans think Jared and Cat’s emotions are affecting the dynamic.
When Cat shared her story about being in a foster home with Fraser Olender, he told fellow stew Barbie Pascual to be nicer to her, which caused a rift between them.
Jared didn’t have cell service on the boat when he tried to talk to his daughter, and was short with a provisioner on a call afterward because of the situation.
It’s clear that fans feel Cat and Jared are slacking off by mixing their personal issues with their jobs, and think they could be fired soon.
Below Deck airs Mondays at 9:00 p.m. ET on Bravo.
