Captain Lee says Below Deck production should have stepped in amid sexual misconduct scandal
Instagram: captain_lee_rosbachBelow Deck’s Captain Lee revealed that he thinks production should ‘break the fourth wall’ with cast mates more often — especially after the recent incident with Luke Jones and Laura Bileskalne.
Captain Lee of Below Deck isn’t shy about sharing his feelings on subjects he’s prompted to talk about, as he has his own podcast ‘Salty with Captain Lee,’ where he dives into pop culture and reality TV gossip.
Though his podcast debuted its first episode on Wednesday, September 6, Captain Lee and co-host Sam DeCavalcanti jumped right into the hot water regarding the controversy around Below Deck Down Under’s ex-employees Luke Jones and Laura Bileskalne.
After discussing his feelings about Jones and Bileskalne, Captain Lee revealed that he thinks Below Deck should ‘break the fourth wall’ more often, as he doesn’t believe it’s a big deal for production to talk with cast mates when needed.
Captain Lee says he wouldn’t have been as calm as Captain Jason during Below Deck Down Under controversy
Though Captain ‘Stud of the Sea’ Lee ran the Below Deck yacht from Season 1 until Season 10, having left the show after last Season, he’s weighed in on the recent sexual misconduct from Jones and Bileskalne of Below Deck Down Under.
Jones and Bileskalne were fired from their show in Season 2 episode 7 after both of them got into the beds of the opposite sex without consent.
After the incident, Captain Lee took to his new podcast ‘Salty with Captain Lee’ to share his feelings on breaking the fourth wall while filming, saying, “Sometimes, I think production needs to break the fourth wall more than they do. There’s a lot of situations that didn’t have to happen had they broken the fourth wall that they think is so sacrosanct.”
Captain Lee continued, “There are certain instances where they can take the fourth wall and put it where the sun don’t shine.”
Though many reality TV producers don’t take advantage of ‘breaking the fourth wall’ to talk to the cast amid controversial instances while filming, a cameraman of Below Deck Down Under just so happened to do that with Jones, as Jones was taken off the boat the night of his wrongful doings instead of production continuing to film them.
Captain Lee also shared his thoughts on how Captain Jason handled the situation with Jones and Bileskalne, saying, “I don’t know if I would have had the wherewithal to remain as calm as Captain Jason did, but he certainly stepped up to the plate and did it right. It’s a tough spot to be in. When there’s the captain, you’re responsible for everything and anything that does happen. Jason handled it superbly.”
Though Captain Lee has retired from Below Deck, BravoTV fans can catch up with him and everything reality TV related on his ‘Salty with Captain Lee’ podcast, as he is scheduled to set sail on air with plenty of exclusive opinions and news. Captain Lee is also a host on ‘Couch Talk with Captain Lee and Kate.’ Fans can watch the series on BravoTV, as episode 5 is due to release on Monday, September 11, at 10:30 pm EST.
