The Bachelor’s Joey reveals what’s causing his eye condition

The Bachelor lead Joey Graziadei revealed he has an eye condition called Gilbert Syndrome, and shared details about it.

Joey says his eye condition started in high school

While watching the show, Bachelor fans noticed that Joey had yellow in his eyes and wanted to know why. In an Instagram video, Joey explained that he has an eye condition called Gilbert Syndrome.

“I want to jump on here really quick and talk about something that I’m seeing a lot of comments about, which is Joey’s yellow eyes,” he said.

“I have to go all the way back to when I was in high school. I was sick for about a week and a half, and my mom thought it would be a good idea to go to the doctor. When I went to the doctor, I had bloodwork done, and the bloodwork showed that my bilirubin count was very high.”

Since Joey’s bilirubin levels were high, it meant that something was wrong with his liver. After getting an ultrasound and going to appointments with other doctors, he was diagnosed with Gilbert Syndrome.

Joey assured his followers that he’s healthy, and the tests didn’t indicate any serious diseases such as Hepatitis.

The Bachelor star’s eyes are more yellow because he has Gilbert Syndrome, and it usually gets worse when he’s under stress, so he has to remember to drink more fluids.

Joey thanked fans for expressing concern about his eyes, and he told them that he’s working on monitoring the condition. He has become a fan-favorite lead on The Bachelor, and fans want to make sure that he’s okay.
