Why did Lauren eliminate herself on The Bachelor?
Instagram: laurenhollinger_Lauren Hollinger tried her hand at winning Joey Graziadei’s heart on Season 28 of The Bachelor but self-eliminated before her time was up.
Lauren Hollinger of Season 28 of The Bachelor arrived at the mansion with her little sister, Allison Hollinger.
Vying for Joey Graziadei’s heart together, it seemed the sisters had the perfect support system to make it further on The Bachelor.
However, when a wedding date went wrong in Episode 2, Lauren decided to eliminate herself from the competition.
Lauren smashes cake before exiting the show
Lauren, 28, who was given the last rose on Episode 1 of The Bachelor, put that aside to continue her journey with Joey, 28.
To show that he was attentive to her feelings of being chosen last, Joey picked Lauren to go on the first group date in Episode 2.
While she made a beautiful bride-to-be, Lauren was carrying her heart on her sleeve during the mock wedding reception.
Having broken down into tears, Lauren finally revealed that her father died seven months prior and that thinking about not having him there to walk her down the aisle in the future was too hard to bear.
Lauren allowed this to affect her so much that she didn’t have any 1:1 time with Joey during the wedding reception.
When it came time for the rose ceremony, Lauren had already eliminated herself, having said, “If my dad were still here, he would have told me not to go on the show.”
Not only that, but Lauren smashed a cake that she had production bring for her and Joey to share before she decided to go home.
Though surprised, Joey walked away gracefully and wished Lauren the best. Joey then went on to eliminate three women, leaving him with 18 ladies left.
