Love Island is the reality TV show that has everyone talking right now.

Once upon a time, Molly Mae Hague from kissing her co-stars on the show. Fans of the show are super curious to know why.

Here’s why the producers decided to be a little more restrictive with Molly Mae.

Molly Mae had to follow different rules

Anton Danyluk opened up to Daily Mail about Molly Mae to reveal why she wasn’t allowed to kiss people while filming Love Island back in 2019.

He said, “Molly had a cold sore on her lip. I wasn’t allowed to actually kiss her and that’s why she never kissed Tommy for so long in there.”

Viewers definitely expected a kiss to take place between Anton and Molly Mae while filming, but ultimately, he only kissed her cheeks.

It’s clear that the show bosses wanted to keep everyone on set protected from exposure to HSV1.

Anton went on to explain that the contestants of Love Island are never allowed to chew gum while filming the show, either. He noted that his lack of access to gum is why he was always using breath spray to freshen up.

Anton made sure his breath was fresh while filming, but he never had the chance to prove how hygienic he was to Molly Mae due to that visible cold sore.

Molly Mae went on to connect with another Love Islander named Callum Jones during Season 6. They pursued a three-year relationship with each other post-filming before calling it quits at the end of 2023.

It’s good to know that the producers of Love Island and Love Island: All-Stars prioritize the safety of the contestants by enforcing rules like the one they gave to Molly Mae.
