Nintendo confirm change of plans with Smash Ultimate’s Dragon Quest Hero

Super Smash Bros Ultimate‘s Dragon Quest Hero has yet to be released, but fans might be shocked to hear that it’s already undergone some altering from Nintendo.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate has already given Smash fans some of their favorite characters to play as while also preparing new fighters for the future. Fans who have kept up-to-date with the Smash DLC are already on tenterhooks for the release of Banjo and Kazooie, but there is another who is yet to enter the game.

Dragon Quest’s Hero was revealed as another DLC fighter back at E3 2019, as Nintendo showed off some of its unique move set and look in front of the world. While it is yet to be made available to fans, that hasn’t stopped the developers from already making a few tweaks.

Banjo and Kazooie is entering Smash before the end of the year.

According to Masahiro Sakurai, whose comments in a column were translated by Twitter user PushDustin, the amount of MP – Magic Points – the Hero uses for attacks have changed since that big reveal at E3.

Those magic points, which is capped at 100, deplete whenever the character uses a spell during a battle. However, when it comes to an appearance in Smash, it’s unknown if the MP amount can be regenerated during a match – despite plenty of speculation from eager fans.

It was shown in that E3 announcement that some of hero’s move, specifically Sizzle, Psyche Up, Oomph, and Snooze would cost 20, 17, 18, and 16 MP respectively.

However, it’s unknown whether or not these – and the other abilities that the Hero has – have received a nerf or even become greater as Sakurai seemingly didn’t state either way.

Players who are waiting for the new fighter might not have too much longer to wait, with speculation growing that it will be released sometime in August.

A recent Nintendo ‘leak’ showed an uploaded video suggesting that new fighters would be released in July. Yet, that was changed to a general ‘summer’ launch window.

With only five days until July turns to August, at the time of writing, it still remains to be seen as to when the new Hero will become a DLC fighter.
