Smash pro Tweek names three characters he wants in Ultimate
Everyone from pros to casuals have different opinions when it comes to which new fighters should come to Super Smash Brothers. At DreamHack Atlanta, TSM star Gavin ‘Tweek’ Dempsey told Phil ‘EE’ Visu who he wants to join the cast next.
With multiple new fighters in development for Smash Ultimate after the release of Challenger Pack 5, it’s anyone’s guess as to who will be announced for Nintendo’s flagship esport next. However, if the Evo 2019 runner-up had his way, there are characters he thinks should not only be added but that he’d possibly even main.
“Is there anyone in particular you want to see come into the next one?” EE asked the Joker player.
“There’s three that are in my mind for the most part,” Dempsey revealed. “I think Geno [from Super Mario RPG] would be really cool. It’s not necessarily an attachment to him. Everyone else wants him and I’m just like ‘okay.’”

Geno is one of the protagonists from Super Mario RPG and is a fan-favorite fighter candidate for many in the Smash community.
“I like Mario characters,” Tweek confessed. “They have charm to them.”
The Glitch 6 champion went on to add he thinks Devil May Cry’s Dante would be a good fit for Smash Ultimate.
“I think he could be ridiculous and really fun,” Gavin continued. “I think he’d be really fitting for a player like me. Just based on how I see him as a character.”
Dante wouldn’t be the first Capcom character to make it into Smash, meaning there’s a fairly good chance Tweek’s wishes could come true in the future.
The final character the TSM legend wants added is Final Fantasy VII’s Sephiroth who he says would be amusing considered how he mained Cloud in Smash 4.
“History repeating itself would be really funny,” Gavin laughed.
Sephiroth would be an incredible pick just because it would hopefully mean a version of One Winged Angel could be added to the music tracklist.
It’s possible any of Tweek’s picks make their way into Smash, even as the fifth characters in the Fighters Pass. As we’ve suggested, it’s looking likely the next fighter is revealed at the Game Awards in December. Only time will tell if the pro gets what he wants as an early Christmas gift.
