Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 player realizes they can kidnap civilians with no consequence
Insomniac GamesMarvel’s Spider-Man 2 takes its heroes to some dark places, but players have found some hilarious ways to endanger the public in ways the developers probably didn’t anticipate.
In addition to taking on major threats like the supervillains Kraven the Hunter and Venom, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 also lets players be Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Men. Like in the previous two games, Peter and Miles can help stop random street crimes like break-ins and assaults.
The new game adds another mechanic to some of its missions. After a pretty hilarious moment in which Peter rescues a screaming J. Jonah Jameson from a trapped limousine, players are sometimes tasked with literally swinging by a hospital with an injured civilian.
It’s a perfectly in-character thing for any good Spider-Man to do, but some players have found ways to put a dark twist on this heroic deed.
Some Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 players want more ways to endanger civilians who need medical attention
As one Reddit user pointed out, it’s possible to ignore the goal while carrying a civilian and instead just swing around the city with them.
Unsurprisingly, one commenter had an idea that would make Spidey’s “rescues” even more traumatizing for the injured NPCs. “I just wish some of the mechanics weren’t locked while carrying them,” they said. “I wanna dive head first into the pavement with them.”
Another proposed a “throw civilians mod” for when Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 likely makes its way to PC in the future.
These suggestions prove that, while Peter Parker and Miles Morales may be heroes, in the hands of players, they can be every bit the menaces J. Jonah Jameson says they are.
