Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 players think they spotted DLC clue on Kraven’s tablet
Insomniac GamesDespite being on Kraven’s tablet at the beginning of the game, Taskmaster is nowhere to be found in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, sparking hopes for potential DLC.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 features a variety of villains from the character’s massive rogues’ gallery for Peter Parker and Miles Morales to fight.
While the story centers around the new threats posed by Venom and Kraven the Hunter, plenty of villains from Insomniac’s previous two Spider-Man games return. This includes characters like Mr. Negative, Black Cat, and Prowler.
However, despite appearing in the first game and being teased in the sequel, players have noticed that one foe is strangely absent: Taskmaster.
Fans wonder if Taskmaster is being saved for unannounced Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 DLC
Early on, there’s a cutscene in which Kraven the Hunter is seen looking at a tablet with a map of New York City marked with villains he plans to target. Among them is Taskmaster.
Even since the tablet scene was revealed in a trailer, fans suspected Taskmaster would appear in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. After all, he was in the first game, presenting side challenges for Peter and an optional boss battle.
But while the rest of the characters from the tablet are seen or referenced, players have realized Taskmaster is nowhere to be found.
Some have theorized in-universe reasons for Taskmaster’s absence. Unlike the other characters shown, Taskmaster isn’t primarily based in New York. As many have joked, he could have heard about Kraven’s hunt and simply decided to leave the city.
Others suspect that the Taskmaster reference early on is meant to tease upcoming content. While Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 DLC has not yet been confirmed, many players are hoping for an expansion similar to the one the first game received with additional storylines that were hinted at in the base game.
What he could be up to is a mystery, but it would be cool to face off against Taskmaster again in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 DLC – and to see what new tricks he’s picked up since last time.
