Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 players have key request for third mainline game
SonyMarvel’s Spider-Man 2 fans have made one request for a Spider-Man 3 game, specifically with regard to final boss fight territory.
(Spoilers for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 follow.)
Insomniac’s latest Spider-Man adventure essentially fulfills the promise of Batman: Arkham Knight’s Dual Play feature. The newer game takes things several steps further, though, allowing users to truly invest time in playing as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
As a result, Peter and Miles team up quite a bit in combat. Some instances will see the pair tag-teaming enemies for finishers. Other cases involve players seamlessly switching between the two to take on a boss character or move through extravagant set pieces.
This is how the final showdown between the Spider-Men and Venom plays out, with players hopping between the web-slinging duo in the hopes of ridding the world of Venom and saving Harry. Fans seem to like this style of boss fight but want one long-awaited boss battle in the future to be a bit more personal for Peter.
Spider-Man 2 fans want one thing for hopeful Spider-Man 3 game
A Redditor named YOP1_da_Inferno had this to say about Spider-Man 2’s last boss encounter, “While I enjoyed the Peter and Miles vs Venom fight. I DO NOT want multiple Spidermen/Allies fighting against Green Goblin in the third one.”
The poster’s reasoning seems sound. Since the first entry, many fans have patiently awaited the moment when Norman Osborn dons the Green Goblin suit and faces Peter’s Spider-Man.
The PS5 sequel set up such a confrontation perfectly. And since the two have so much history, it’s possible their inevitable clash will feel as emotionally charged as Peter’s battle with Doc Ock.
Responses in the thread show the Redditor isn’t alone in this line of thinking. One reply reads, “I loved how both Peter and Miles took turns with Venom, but I do think Peter Vs Goblin should be a 1 on 1 with how much drama they have going.”
Someone else added, “I love all the spider people and it’ll be cool to see Cindy but if anyone deserves a 1v1 it’s Peter and Norman.”
Much of the talk about a potential Spider-Man 3 game veers elsewhere, however. It seems many fans are worried that Peter will be killed off in the next installment. “I just hope they don’t kill Peter,” reads one such comment. Another fan expressed similar fears, saying, “What I’m REALLY hoping Insomniac doesn’t do is kill Peter. Just let the man retire and be happy for once.”
Since Spider-Man 2 just swung onto store shelves, definitive news about the third entry won’t take center stage anytime soon. But it’s clear fans have already decided exactly what they want for Insomniac’s next turn with Spider-Man.
