Fans ridicule former Liverpool ace Daniel Sturridge over ‘seatbelt’ fashion look
Sky SportsFormer Liverpool player Daniel Sturridge has faced online ridicule after fans took aim at his outfit in the Sky Sports studio, questioning why he was supposedly wearing a ‘seatbelt’.
Sturridge was joined by Micah Richards and Roy Keane as Sky’s pundits for the build-up to Liverpool vs Man City.
The 34-year-old played for both Liverpool and City, as well as a four-year stint at Chelsea before his Merseyside move.
Yet rather than listening to his analysis of the mouth-watering Premier League tie, fans were seemingly distracted by Sturridge’s outfit.
Daniel Sturridge’s ‘seatbelt’ look
Richards, Keane and Sturridge were all smartly dressed, but the latter’s jacket quickly became a talking point online.
Labelled as a ‘seatbelt’ by fans on social media, Sturridge’s belt buckle caused a stir by those watching Sky’s coverage.
It didn’t take long before fans made their feelings clear about what they saw as a fashion disaster.
Away from his choice of outfit, Sturridge and Richards got into a heated exchange ahead of kick-off following recent comments from Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The defender had suggested that Liverpool’s trophies “mean more” to the fans than they do for Man City supporters – something that Richards passionately disagreed with.
Following Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Brentford, Liverpool and City know that a draw would see the Gunners move top of the table.
The stakes could not be higher for both sides, as a win for either team moves them above Arsenal and into first place with just 10 games left to play.
