Riyad Mahrez trolled mercilessly over social media post
Twitter/Riyad MahrezRiyad Mahrez lit the Premier League up during his nine years in England.
The Algerian was part of the Leicester team that shocked the football world by winning the league in 2016 and countless trophies followed when he moved to Manchester City in 2018.
Mahrez managed double figures for goals in each of his five seasons at the Etihad and was still an important player for Pep Guardiola when he decided to move to Saudi Arabia last year.
The 33-year-old has performed respectably for Al-Ahli but, truthfully, he has not been on most fans’ radar since leaving the Premier League.
Mahrez launches his own app
However, he was back on our screens last week as a new reality TV series hit Amazon Prime. Married To The Game is a six-part series which goes behind the scenes with footballers and their partners.
Mahrez features on it with wife Taylor Ward, and just days after the series’ release Mahrez was announcing a launch of his own.
Taking to X, he informed his followers of the release of his own mobile phone app called RM26, where fans can ‘follow his daily journey’.
The post provoked tongue-in-cheek responses from plenty of fans who questioned the demand for such an app.
“Finally the Riyad Mahrez app i’ve been requesting for years is here,” one X user sarcastically posted.
Another wrote: “Overdue is an understatement,” while a third added: “Can’t wait for the Eric Dier app.”
“Bye bye Twitter, hello Riyad app,” was perhaps the pick of the replies.
