Two Sheffield United players had to be separated

Sheffield United pair Vinicius Souza and Jack Robinson had to be separated after shoving each other during the first half of the Blades’ game against Wolves.

Chris Wilder’s side went into the game at Molineux in 20th place and, despite creating some good openings in the first half, found themselves a goal down when Pablo Sarabia headed home for the hosts on the half-hour mark.

Rhian Brewster and James McAtee both spurned decent openings in the opening stages of the match and they were made to pay for their profligacy in front of goal when Sarabia scored.

Wasted chances cause frustration levels to rise

And a short while after Wolves’ opener, the visitors risked going down to 10 men when two of their own players began going at each other.

Souza and Robinson could be seen remonstrating with each other before squaring up and shoving each other.

The VAR did check the incident for a possible sending-off offence but it was deemed that there was no need for a red-card intervention.

The incident was reminiscent of the infamous brawl between Kieron Dyer and Lee Bowyer in 2005 when they both played for Newcastle.

On that occasion, both men were sent off after punches had been thrown, with Bowyer leaving the field of play with a ripped shirt.

Dyer would later go on to claim that Newcastle’s manager at the time, Graeme Souness, had offered to fight both players in the dressing room after the match.
