Starfield players demand changes to “lackluster” lockpicking rewards
BethesdaStarfield players are calling for Bethesda to adjust the rewards gained from lockpicking, following disappointing loot.
Lockpicking in Starfield is one of the most satisfying parts of the game. In fact, this unique feature has been praised by players thanks to its “super satisfying” mechanics.
Not only does this minigame play differently to other Bethesda games like Skyrim and Fallout, but it can also require a fair amount of time to get the hang of. In fact, the difficulty greatly increases when opening the game’s Master Locks.
However, while Starfield players continue to enjoy the Digipicking minigame, many have voiced their frustrations over the lack of loot gained from lockpicking.
Starfield players demand better loot for opening up Master Locks
“They finally got a system that requires some thinking and isn’t the same old same old, but the level of the lock doesn’t really scale with the reward one gets from it,” remarked one player. While this is great for low-level characters, there’s often very little incentive for higher-level players and those running through New Game Plus to spend resources opening locks.
“Yeah, I find myself skipping over expert locks in particular,” said one commenter. “Sometimes if I get one that trips me up I could spend 5+ minutes scratching my head only to get next to nothing as a reward for wasting my time.”
Meanwhile, others were keen to stress how legendary weapons can simply be found on weapon racks and don’t require any time investment to obtain. In fact, the lack of good rewards stings even more for those who have invested in the Security tree.
Spending skill points to enable your character to open Master Locks to only be met with lackluster rewards is always going to be disappointing. “Putting 3 or 4 entire skill points and investing 5+ minutes of your time figuring out a master lock EACH time you do it needs to have some cooler stuff,” said another player.
It’s clear that Starfield’s community believes the devs should make adjustments to the current lockpick rewards, but for now, you may want to temper your expectations when you go delving into those Master Locks.
