Apple iPad Air with 12.9-inch display appears in leaked images

Apple is apparently making lots of new changes to the iPad lineup. We have long-standing rumors of the OLED iPad, which is reportedly on track to launch later this year. Rumors of an iPad Air model with the biggest display yet have also been surfacing online, and the latest report is here to validate the chatter with CAD renders.
The design of the new iPad Air with a 12.9 display has been revealed by several leaked images. While the overall appearance of the iPad is similar to other iPad Airs, it has a redesigned camera island that looks similar to the iPhone X and XS.
The new iPad Air may get the same M2 chip
The leaked images, shared by 91Mobiles, show the iPad with a slim body and an all-screen design. Similar to earlier iPad Air models, the iPad Air 12.9 features Touch ID positioned at the top, accompanied by speaker grilles at both the top and bottom. The side switch and USB-C port are also visible on this iPad Air model.
The renders reveal iPad Air 12.9 will have a redesigned pill-shaped camera island on the back, unlike the current model which has a circular camera cutout. But the iPad still features a single camera sensor from what we can see in the images.
When you turn the iPad around, it resembles the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro. However, there’s a big distinction—it has visibly thicker bezels. This is akin to the 10.9-inch iPad Air, which has thicker borders around the display in comparison to the 11-inch iPad Pro.
The iPad is supposed to have an LCD panel and be powered by the M2 chip— the same processor that powers the 10.9 iPad Air. Other specifications might also be identical, pointing to the fact that this iPad is just getting a size boost, like what Apple did with the 15-inch MacBook Air.
You might consider this iPad if the 12.9-inch iPad Air is an overkill for you. The new iPad Air may cost a lot less than the iPad Pros while giving more screen real estate.
