Guitar controllers are back as new Fortnite Festival compatible guitar announced
Fans clamoring for a new wireless guitar controller are in luck, as PDP has announced the Riffmaster, a wireless guitar controller compatible with Fortnite Festival and Rock Band 4.
In the mid to late 00’s, music games and guitar controllers were all the rage, but as the volume of releases increased, the bubble burst, and soon, there was hardly any sign of the playful rhythm game controllers in sight.
It’s been almost 19 years since the first Guitar Hero was released, but with Fortnite Festival‘s popularity, and Rock Band developer Harmonix developing the title, peripheral manufacturer PDP has come to the rescue with a brand-new wireless guitar controller.
The guitar controller has been billed as the Riffmaster, and sports familiar features such as the strum and whammy bars, and the colored buttons at the top of the neck.
This is a next-generation guitar controller, however, and thus has some new features, such as a collapsible neck for easy storage and transport, along with a small analog stick tucked away under the headstock, and a pick guard that can be removed and replaced which suggests options for future customization.
A next-gen guitar controller for Fortnite fans
Along with the analog stick, there is a D-pad and other controls on the guitar body that are said to control the audio levels, and a 3.5 mm audio jack even though the controller is billed as a wireless device. This could tease additional functionality for the controller, though details have not been made clear.
The Riffmaster wireless controller has been designed to work with both Rock Band 4 and Fortnite Festival, which is excellent timing as the final Rock Band 4 DLC has just been released, so customers who wish to buy this controller can enjoy a complete experience.
The controller is planned for release in Spring 2024, so quite soon a whole new generation could know the joy of rocking out on a plastic guitar with friends.
