iPhone SE 4 could get massive display upgrade according to report
AppleApple is reportedly gearing up to launch the iPhone SE 4 next year, and it could borrow one of the best display features from the premium iPhones.
The previous iPhone SE models have all debuted with a dated design and hardware. They featured an awful lot of bezels on the display and the touch ID sensor last seen on the iPhone 8 models. However, reports point to a modern design on the iPhone SE 4. It may also get one of the best features from premium iPhones, according to a report.
According to The Elec, the 2025 iPhone SE 4 will feature an upgrade to an OLED screen, replacing the LCD one used on all previous models. The panel is expected to be the same as the one used in the iPhone 13.
Display manufacturers Samsung, BOE, and Tianma have already started to propose their prices to Apple for OLED panels aimed at the iPhone SE 4, reports The Elec.
The reports suggest the OLED panels to be used on the iPhone SE 4 are not as good as the iPhone 15. This might help Apple keep the prices in check.
“The OLED panel prices are considerably lower than those of iPhone 15 as OLED panels for SE will use recycled parts and legacy techs.
“The OLED panel for iPhone SE4 will likely be the same one as those used in iPhone 14 back in 2022 as well as iPhone 13 a year earlier than that. The standard iPhone models sported 6.1-inch panels,” claims the Korean publication’s report.
Apple doesn’t want to spend on R&D for the iPhone SE 4 as that would raise the price. By using panels from existing models, Apple can minimize costs and offer decent-quality screens.
iPhone SE 4 could be the iPhone for the masses
The current iPhones aren’t cheap, with the cheapest iPhone 15 starting at $799. This prompts budget-conscious buyers to opt for more affordable options like the Samsung Galaxy A54 or the Pixel 7a. However, with the new iPhone SE 4 entering the market, there would be a decent option for those who want an iPhone but don’t want to spend much.
If leaks and rumors are to be believed, the iPhone SE 4 will be a step up in terms of design. It could also feature the latest A-series chipset under the hood. However, Apple may not launch the iPhone SE 4 before 2025.
