Legion Go handheld in a case

Looking to grab a Lenovo Legion Go? The newest handheld to hit the block comes with 512GB of storage out of the box, but Micro Center will boost this in-store with bigger SSDs.

When we tried the Lenovo Legion Go, it looked like the new handheld was on track to become one of the biggest handhelds out there. It’ll stand side by side with the likes of the ROG Ally, and Valve’s Steam Deck. Now, as the device inches closer to launch, it appears as though Micro Center will be pre-modding the devices in-store to buff your storage, according to Videocardz.

The best part? The prices for the storage upgrade are not that bad, either. You’ll pay an extra $50 for 1TB, while you will pay an additional $100 for 2TB. The device will also sport a slightly different NVMe form factor than the Steam Deck, utilizing the slightly longer 2242 standard, rather than 2230.

It might be cheaper than finding your own SSD

This is slightly more difficult to find, especially in a PCIe 4.0 flavor that will keep up with the demands of modern titles. Micro Center appears to be using a VisionTek DLX4 1TB and 2TB 2242 drive within the deal here. The drive claims to boast read speeds of up to 5200 MB/s, with write speeds up to 4770 MB/s, and will run in a PCIe 4.0 x4 slot.

Interestingly, scouting around for the best price for the DLX4 drives from VisionTek leads us to believe that this offer might end up cheaper than finding one yourself and doing it DIY, too. Even if you factored in how much a 1TB 2230 drive would be, it would still fit in the 2242 slot. So, if you’re after larger storage options, your best bet might be to pop into your local Micro Center, rather than completing the installation yourself. This way, you won’t even need to learn how to replace the SSD at all, too.
