Microsoft’s brand-new Xbox Series X refresh finally gets release date
MicrosoftAn Xbox console refresh is finally on its way as Microsoft has officially announced when we can expect the brand-new all-digital, white Xbox Series X.
With Gamescom 2024 well underway, Microsoft has its hands busy. However, among the many Xbox game announcements, the tech giant also has its sights on brand-new hardware.
Microsoft has finally announced the release date for its upcoming digital-only Xbox Series X, which was announced back at the Xbox June showcase. The white 1TB console is expected to launch in the US on October 15, 2024.
The new version of the Series X console does away with the disc tray. Along with its digital-only offerings, it also comes in a “Robot White” colorway, making it even more similar to the Xbox Series S.
When the refreshed Xbox Series X first leaked, it was suspected the new console would “have a few of its components upgraded”, namely the console’s heatsink.
However, the official page for the upcoming console shows no indications of any upgrades, besides the absence of a disc tray and new coat of paint.
The brand-new Xbox Series X will be available for $449.99 at launch, from the official Xbox website and other trusted retailers.
Two more new versions
Alongside the new Xbox Series X, Microsoft is also launching two additional Xbox console versions.
These include a special edition “Galaxy Black” 2TB Xbox Series X, which features a star-patterned design. The stellar pattern continues to the D-pad for the accompanying wireless Xbox controller and will be available for $599.99.
MicrosoftLastly, a 1TB Xbox Series S is also on its way for $349.99. However, there’s no fresh look to be seen, just an improved storage capacity over the 512GB of the existing model.
Both the Galaxy Black Xbox Series X and the 1TB Xbox Series S will also be available from October 15, 2024, along with the refreshed Xbox Series X.
According to the Verge, Microsoft states that each console “will be available in all current Xbox hardware supported regions and markets.”
However, if you’re in the US and eager for a new Xbox to prepare for games like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, all three newly announced Xbox consoles are currently available to pre-order.
