PC case modding contest produces some wild and wonderful designs

The Thermaltake CaseMod Invitational offers PC modders the chance to win cash prizes by creating unique and special mods for PC cases

The Maker and Modding communities have managed to produce some truly special things, from a PC built into a suitcase to a new version of a forgotten console. For those who have both creativity and mechanical and electronic know-how, there is an event that tests all of those skills, and you can vote on what the outcome will be.

The Thermaltake CaseMod Invitational gives specially selected members of the PC modding community the chance to win prizes ranging from high-end gaming keyboards to $6000 in cash. In order to do this, they are given a Thermaltake CTE C750 PC case, along with access to an unlimited number of Thermaltake products in order to make the most unusual and spectacular design they can.

Winners of case modding contest decided by community vote

The winners are decided on by community vote, with modders posting images of their build to the community forums on the official Event website and users voting on which they believe to be the best.

Current entrants are in a huge range of styles. Such as the PC case created by Canadian Derek Wilson who has created a PC that looks like a tiny rural cabin doll’s house, complete with an action figure sitting inside staring at the RGB lighting. Another remarkable creation comes from Wael Kadri of France, who made a PC that resembles an old-fashioned gas pump, complete with flicking number counters for money and gas and what resembles an actual gas hose.

For retro gaming fans, Italian Marco Di Silvestre drew inspiration from his fictional countryman by building an entire classic Mario level inside the PC case, complete with Piranha plants, Mushroom blocks, and coins.

Voting for the current stage of the competition will begin on January 31, and conclude on February 14, 2024. So you have plenty of time to register and cast your vote.
