Tekken megafan names his children after iconic fighters
BANDAI NAMCO / TikTok: ninaeyuA woman is going viral on TikTok after revealing her father named herself and her siblings after iconic Tekken characters.
Tekken 8 is officially out on consoles and PC, nearly ten years after Tekken 7 first released in Japanese arcades.
Thus far, the game has been met with rave reviews — but one woman has a reason to be more excited than most about the latest installment in the iconic fighting game franchise.
TikTok user ‘Nina Eyu’ is going viral after explaining the story behind her name, and Tekken fans can probably guess why.
Woman reveals she’s named after iconic Tekken character
Nina Williams is one of Tekken’s most iconic characters, who has been a mainstay in the series since its very first game. A ruthless assassin, Nina has won over fans’ hearts for decades now — but one player took their love for the character to the next level, quite literally.
Nina Eyu revealed in a viral TikTok video that her father was a massive fan of the Tekken franchise and even competed in tournaments. Given his love for the series, he named his firstborn child after Nina Williams.
Nina wasn’t the only child to get graced with a Tekken-inspired name, either. She revealed that her two younger brothers were also named after Tekken characters: Jin, after Jin Kazama, and Hwoarang, after the game’s famous Taekwondo fighter.
While some might side-eye this decision, Nina is a pretty big fan of the Tekken series herself and loves to regale people with the story behind her and her siblings’ names, saying she’s super excited to play Tekken 8.
While fighting game fans had mostly positive reactions to the inspiration for Nina’s name, this wasn’t the case for other kids named after fictional characters. For instance, a Jujutsu Kaisen fan recently came under fire after revealing they’d named their baby after Maki Zenin, a character who’d carried out an eradication of an entire clan in the popular anime.
