Boutique worker fired “on the spot” for not interacting with customers
TIKTOK: natalieulwellingA boutique employee went viral on TikTok after sharing how she got fired for not interacting with customers enough.
Former boutique worker Natalie (natalieulwelling) took to TikTok to reveal that she got fired from her retail job after a month for “a reason that didn’t even make sense.”
Natalie said she arrived at the boutique after being called in for a meeting, during which her managers informed her she wasn’t engaging with the customers enough. “They were watching the cameras, and they want someone who interacts with the customers,” she said in her video.
The content creator took the feedback on board and said she would “do more” going forward. However, the management told her that it’s best they “part ways.” Natalie shared, “It’s a boutique, it isn’t a corporate office. I wasn’t expected to be fired on the spot.”
The TikToker told her seniors she wished she’d known about the issue sooner as she felt like it was an “easy fix.” She added, “It’s just frustrating because [the manager] said ‘not everyone is a people person.'”
Boutique worker’s rant goes viral
This frustrated Natalie because she believed that was not her. “I used to be socially awkward, but now I’ve never felt more confident in myself and talking to people,” she revealed.
The content creator’s “rant therapy session” video quickly garnered over 5.5 million views, with thousands of TikTok users sympathizing with her in the comments.
“That is so frustrating. It’s ironic how they are letting you go because of how you communicate with guests, but they couldn’t communicate with you,” one person wrote.
“I’m sorry you had this experience. I am even more sorry for the fact that they were gaslighting you, truly,” another commented.
Others said they actually prefer minimal interaction with employees when they are shopping. “Bruh when I’m shopping i literally DONT want the employees to interact w me,” one user shared. “A lot of times customers just want to browse without being talked to!” another agreed.
