Dollar Tree customers outraged as prices rise far past 1 dollar
TikTok: simplynatalie31Dollar Tree customers have taken to social media to express frustration with the store’s rising prices.
Years ago, customers could walk into the Dollar Tree and buy every item for only $1. However, the store upped its foundation price to $1.25 at the end of 2021.
As of recently, Dollar Tree has increased their prices even more, selling their bottled soda for $1.75 and a bag of bread for $4.00.
After pricing concerns, a customer took it upon themselves to ask the store’s manager what was happening. Unfortunately, the Dollar Tree manager confirmed the store would be increasing prices yet again.
Dollar Tree manager confirms price increase to $1.50
Customers of Dollar Tree have struck social media with their frustration over the store’s rising prices, as many have posted videos of outrage to TikTok.
Noticing the price scanner in the middle of the store, one customer put the pieces together, realizing that Dollar Tree was raising their prices. Because why else would you have to check the price of an item at ‘the $1 store?’
Another customer went as far as asking the store’s manager about their prices, to which they told her the $1.25 items would soon all be $1.50.
Since finding out that Dollar Tree would be surging their prices, viewers have reacted to the many viral TikTok videos from customers, “Dollar Tree is gonna be the new 5 below since 5 below also has a area for more expensive items.”
And, “Noo this is where I go to get my friends gifts bc I’m broke.”
Another joked, saying the store would be called the “any amount tree” anytime now. While someone else chimed in, “Anything but hire another cashier.”
One viewer also mentioned their theory about what was going on, “That’s in preparation for Dollar Tree Plus. It’s rolling out this week and will be in basically all stores in May.”
Though the proof is in the pudding, Dollar Tree has not explained, at this time, why their prices have gone up and what their intentions are going forward.
