Stranger Things fans were left shocked after realizing the artist behind the viral TikTok song ‘Summer in Chicago’ was none other than actor Joe Keery.

TikTok is known for sparking the net’s next big viral hit. From fashion trends to food hacks and more, the platform is prime for curating what’s in vogue on social media.

It’s not unusual for songs to go viral on TikTok, becoming massive hits in the process — whether they be new releases from up-and-coming artists or even older tracks from established musicians, reigniting interest in classic anthems.

Now, another tune is taking TikTok by storm… and listeners were shocked to learn who created the catchy song.

Fans stunned to learn Stranger Things Joe Keery made viral TikTok song

If you’ve been on TikTok for the last few weeks, you’ve probably come across a few videos using the song ‘End of Beginning’ by Djo.

The track has been used in multiple widely-viewed clips on the viral video platform, with users saying the song’s vibe perfectly fits what summer in Chicago actually feels like, while others who aren’t even from the Windy City say they still get nostalgic vibes after listening to it.

In fact, the song seems to have sparked a major interest in Chicago, with users across TikTok saying they want to move to the major metropolitan hub thanks to all the hype.

However, netizens weren’t prepared to discover who was responsible for making the viral hit — none other than actor Joe Keery, best known for his role as Steve Harrington in Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things.

He’s more than Steve ‘The Hair’ Harrington, though. Previously, Keery played guitar and drums for the group ‘Post Animal,’ before moving on to make his own music under the name ‘Djo,’ pronounced ‘Joe.’

It’s safe to say that this knowledge has thrown TikTok for a major loop, leaving listeners’ jaws dropped all across the app.

The excitement even got back to Keery himself, who joked that he’d been “Tokked” in a video response to his status as a viral musical icon.

It looks like Keery’s fame has spread even beyond Stranger Things, the next season of which is expected to be released in 2025 or 2026.
