TikTok Sunflower Seed warning

An Emergency Room Physician’s Assistant took to TikTok to send a graphic warning to people who like eating sunflower seeds.

With over a billion monthly users on TikTok, there’s no telling what kind of stories will go viral on the short-form video app.

We’ve seen restaurants being accused of “scamming” for higher tips, life-saving Stanley cups, and even someone running a full marathon inside of a Costco store.

On February 27, 2024, Physician’s Assistant mizzemilyy took to TikTok to send a graphic warning to people who like eating sunflower seeds.

ER staff warns about eating sunflower seed shells

In the clip, Emily shares a story about a recent interaction she had with a patient who was suffering from rectum pain after eating sunflower seeds.

“This is a PSA for all you sunflower seed loving people out there,” she said. “If you don’t want me to scoop sunflower seed shells from your a*shole, then don’t f**king eat them okay?”

The Physician’s Assistant says they did everything possible to try to help a constipated patient, they quickly learned that the issue was in fact sunflower seed shells clogging her up. And, she had to use her finger to begin getting them out.

Users quickly took to the comments to share their thoughts on the situation, with many of them shocked at what the woman had to do.

“I have eaten sunflower seeds my whole life and never PURPOSEFULLY ate a shell…WHY would she do that?!?!?!” one user replied.

Another commented: “I know your hands were gloved but I’d have to wait 10-100 business days before I put them near my face again.”

“The way I screamed at ‘if you scoop it out it’ll feel better’,” a third said.

This isn’t the first time a medical professional has taken to the platform to warn others about something, either. The viral mouth-taping trend and even a popular cure for strep throat has been warned against by doctors.
