An Australian traveler named Douglas has taken to TikTok to complain about Jetline after a flight attendant “scammed” him by refusing to let him borrow her pen.

Since the rise of social media, people have taken to platforms like TikTok to share anything from hacks and tips to complaints by sharing their own experiences on things like travel.

From nightmare flights with seats covered in feces to maggots falling out of the overhead compartments, you never know what might happen on your next travel day.

Luckily, these extreme scenarios are rare, but things can still go wrong. One traveler from Australia named Douglas recently took to TikTok to call out Jetline airline company for “scamming” passengers after being denied to borrow a pen.

Douglas was in the middle of his flight from Australia to South Korea when he decided to fill out the arrivals card, which needed to be done before going through arrivals at the airport.

“I’ve gone to the back and asked the lady, ‘Hey do you have a pen I could borrow? There’s five questions, I just need to answer those questions quickly and write it out’,” he said.

“She goes, ‘No you can’t use my pen, but you can buy one for $5 … or when you arrive use a pen there’.”

The Australian traveler was confused by the response, which made him ask again if he could borrow her, but claims the flight attendant still refused.

But having to fill out the form, he decided to pay the $5 for the pen from the flight attendant. This wasn’t the only issue Douglas had on the flight. When trying to

When Douglas landed he checked his online banking and noticed he had been charged. This made him lodge a complaint with the airline in a bid to get the money back but says that he is expecting to have to wait around a month.

In response to his video, viewers had mixed responses, with some offering advice while others defended the airline’s pen policy. One person wrote: “Apply to your credit card supplier online for a ‘chargeback’ providing the evidence. It will be credited back to you within a few days.”

Another added: “The thing is, passengers always ‘forget’ to give the pen back. And crew need to have one in case the pilots give them an emergency briefing at any time.”

“Why don’t you just travel with your own pen? If you’re a big traveler you would know that you’re going to need a pen for your documentation,” a third person argued.
