A mother whose son died in a 2011 accident has lashed out at social media trolls using TikTok to impersonate him.

Dylan Ramsay died in 2011 when he drowned in a quarry, with the coroner ruling that he died from cold water shock. His mother, Rebecca Ramsay, has spent the last twelve years raising awareness of how dangerous swimming in areas like these can be.

However, she was shocked to discover that some “sicko” teenagers had been using her son’s image on a TikTok Live stream, claiming that he was still alive.

Rebecca said she first discovered the images when one of Dylan’s friends contacted her after seeing the stream on TikTok.

Rebecca told the Star: “My phone went and it was one of Dylan’s friends. I wondered why so obviously answered. The young lady who called asked if I was sitting down. I said yes and she proceeded to tell me that she had been in a live TikTok and an account came in with a picture of Dylan she recognized immediately.

“This person said to her ‘It’s Dylan, I’m not dead I’m alive’. She was very shaken so left the ‘live’ straight away and called me. What kind of sicko makes accounts pretending to be my dead son? Telling his friends that he’s alive – fuming don’t come close! I just can’t get over that people do this. My son has not been with us for 12 years. It’s just so low.”

Rebecca has repeatedly called for the offending account to be taken down.
