TikTok star Potato the Bunny kidnapped after breeder’s house was broken into

TikTok star Potato the Bunny was kidnapped after people broke into the breeder’s home, but was safely returned just four days later after Potato’s owner pleaded for its safe return.

On Friday, August 16, TikTok’s Potato the Bunny was kidnapped after his breeder Anna Neven’s home was broken into. The theft occurred in Hamilton, Ontario where his home Sinclair Rabbitry is located. 

“We have photos of the people from our cameras and are submitting them to the police. If this is you and you have potato, if you bring him back we will cancel the submission to the police, Even if you leave him on my porch, I just want my bunny back,” Anna pleaded in a TikTok video.

“I’m not sure if you meant to take the bunny posted on my website, but you took the wrong bunny. This bunny is my everything. I grew him up since he was a baby and gained a strong bond with him,” Anna added.

Potato the Bunny’s breeder knew he was gone once she realized he wasn’t hiding when she returned home to greet him.

“Every time I’m nearby, he always runs up to me and wants pets,” Anna told The Hamilton Spectator. “I’ve never seen him hide in my life. It made his disappearance all the more noticeable. I knew he was gone because he loves me.”

Fortunately for Anna, Potato the Bunny was returned four days after he was stolen. She said that an “apologetic” father of one of the kidnappers showed up at her door with the bunny in his arms, adding that the duo who took him saw her TikTok plea.

“He was really, really nice – super apologetic. He just felt bad for me and said it wasn’t like his daughter to do that,” Anna said.

Despite his return, Anna couldn’t help but question the motive of her beloved bunny’s kidnapping. “Potato’s been on TikTok and in a few viral videos, so people do know him. But I don’t know if he was targeted on purpose or if they just wanted any bunny,” she said.

Police are currently looking into the theft. However, Anna is just relieved that her bunny is back home and safe.

Potato the Bunny isn’t the only animal to go viral on TikTok. Though he’s remained in the care of his home without unwanted harm, Howie the crab gained nearly 1M followers on the platform where his owner shares silly videos of him wearing hats.
