Wedding officiant leaves guests and TikTok viewers delighted
In a clip uploaded on January 23, 2024, by Universal Life Church, they show the “best” way to make wedding guests put their phones away during a wedding.
It’s common for weddings to ask guests to put away their phones during the ceremony due to the fact most couples pay for a professional photographer.
“We promise you that there will not be a special moment missed. That being said, we understand that you heathens lack impulse control. So, in order to feed those inner demons please let’s take the next 30 seconds to whip out those devices and take as many photos as you can before we actually start this thing,” the officiant said.
The bride & groom quickly started posing for the cameras soon after, as nearly the whole crowd pulled out their phones to take their candid photos of the event.
TikTok viewers took to the comments to share their thoughts on how it was handled, with many praising the method.
“This is GENIUS!! I’m SO doing this at my wedding!,” one user commented.
Another person replied: “This is so smart. not just for the devices but getting all the jitters about being in front of everyone too.”
“I absolutely LOVE this! A hilarious way to handle the cell phone problem!,” a third viewer shared.
However, not everyone likes the idea of banning guests from having their phones out for pictures. Many in the comments shared that they enjoy the more candid takes that friends and family can get that a professional photographer wouldn’t offer.
Either way, it seems everyone in the video is happy with how the “cell phone problem” was handled — and the couple got to express themselves in a fun way in the process.
