Woman claims she was fired for being “too efficient” at her job

A woman explained how her boss, who stopped going to work, fired her for working too hard in his absence.

TikToker Mariela took to the platform to discuss the story about recently being fired as Art Director at her job.

Saying she did tasks on social media, coordinated marketing angles, and took the lead in meetings, Mariela felt she was let go for being “too efficient.”

TikTokers have since reacted, saying she’ll find a better position somewhere else where her boss actually values her work ethic.

Viewers suggest woman’s boss was threatened by her work ethic 

In Mariela’s first video of her explaining how she was fired, she gave an example of how she was “too efficient” at work. Saying she had already done the work her boss asked her to do, Mariela had no problem telling them so.

However, she got the boot when her boss decided to come back to work and take on their leadership role after not showing up or calling when they decided not to go into the office.

Essentially, Mariela made her own position in the company in her boss’ absence, and when they came back, there was no room for both of them at the company, per her boss’ opinion.

Viewers of Mariela’s viral TikTok reacted by suggesting her boss was threatened by her, “When they can’t control you is when they show [their] behind, you’re gonna be better off somewhere else plus you get to work on yourself in the meantime.”

Another viewer added their theory on why she was fired, saying that her boss realized the company would decide to save money and cut at least one of them after seeing how Mariela could handle all of the work on her own.

Some viewers, however, felt Mariela was hiding part of the story and questioned if she was let go after “talking too much.” She has since replied to that comment, laughing it off and calling it a “wild assumption.”
