Woman claims she was fired for bringing designer bag to work
TikTok: eshareneeA woman is going viral after claiming she was fired for bringing her Birkin bag to work… but not everyone is convinced she’s telling the whole story.
TikTok is a popular platform for employees to discuss their experiences at work, with quite a few going viral over the years for their wild workplace stories.
For instance, one woman sparked a major debate after claiming she was fired for being “too efficient” at her job, while a DoorDash driver took TikTok by storm after confronting a customer who got him fired with a bogus complaint.
Now, another worker is stirring up conversation on the app after claiming she was let go from her job thanks to her expensive taste in handbags.
Woman fired for wearing Birkin bag – but viewers don’t believe it
TikTok user Esha Renee has uploaded a slew of videos documenting her daily life as an office nurse, often showing off her designer Chanel and Louis Viutton purses.
But she claims her luxury style got her in trouble, saying in a video on February 24 that she was fired for wearing her Birkin bag to work.
Renee slammed her previous employer for “discrimination,” specifically “classism” inspired by her pricey accessories.
“I understand that Michigan is an at-will state, but as I talked to my lawyer on the way home before I posted that video, it’s illegal to fire someone for wrongful termination based off of discrimination. And classism is a form of discrimination.”
That’s not all; she also revealed that she’s suing the company for “wrongful termination” and a “hostile work environment” — but not everyone believes her.
Specifically, many commenters are calling into question her ability to purchase a Birkin on a 9-5 salary, with one asking: “How did you get on the list to buy your Birkin? It’s a whole process sis, and minimum $30K!”
“You have a Birkin and you have to work? Huh?” another posited.
Other viewers aren’t so sure it was her fashion sense that caused her firing, with others pointing to the multitude of videos she’s made on the clock as a possible reason for her termination.
“Office manager here,” one user said. “You were fired for your TikToks. You don’t get paid to do school work and watch cartoons. That’s theft.”
Renee’s TikTok videos are now filled with comments speculating about the amount of money she supposedly makes and clowning her for her videos flexing her supposed wealth.
This is just the latest fiasco to go viral on TikTok related to designer brands after a Gucci worker got sacked for revealing how fans could get freebies from the label last year.
