Woman tries not to cry after getting world’s ‘ugliest tattoo’

A woman named Marie Armstrong took to TikTok to explain how she believes she has “the ugliest tattoo in the world” after a touch-up appointment goes wrong.

Social media is full of bad tattoo stories. From the “tattoogate” situation which went viral in 2023, to people claiming they got their partners’ names tattooed onto their faces, it can be difficult to determine what the worst tattoo is.

However, a woman from Florida, US, now believes she has a contender for the world’s “worst tattoo”. Marie Armstrong, who goes by the handle @marieaarm online, took to TikTok to share with her 34k followers a little more about her tattoo “mistake”.

“I’ve never instantly regretted getting a tattoo until this one I got yesterday,” she told viewers. “Okay, I have a bunch of tattoos, most of my tattoos are on my hands. On my fingers, I have a bunch of like, little critters, whatever.”

Woman claims she got the “ugliest tattoo” on her finger

She explained that last year, she got a half-peeled banana etched onto her index finger. It has since started to fade, which is expected with tattoos on the fingers or palms of the hands. But Marie didn’t expect to get the result she did when she went to have it redrawn.

Saying she decided to go along with her boyfriend who was also getting a tattoo done, Marie claimed she was allocated a different tattoo artist to her partner. She also claimed she was unable to communicate with her tattoo artist because he only spoke Spanish – so she had to rely on showing him a photo and hoping it would go well.

She said: “You know, it’s pretty simple. It’s a banana. I show him a picture of right when I got the banana done the first time, and he goes ahead and starts free-handing, like adding on the rest of the banana to what he can already see and sketching it, which I didn’t really expect him to print this stencil because like, you’d have to size it perfectly.”

However, once the tattoo was complete, Maria was left beyond stunned by what the artist had done.

She told viewers: “I look at it, and I am trying to not cry.

“I actually liked my original banana and I thought it was adorable and [the tattoo artist] just put the ugliest piece of sh*t on my body ever that I have to live with.”

“So I’m hoping it just fades as much as it did the first time. But like, I was p*ssed.”

Tattoo shop owner says he’ll fix her tattoo

Over 154,000 people have watched Marie talk about her tattoo, and most seem to agree that the tattoo is bad, and they can’t decide what it looks like.

One person commented: “no it looks like a deformed hand i’m so sorry” while another person argued: “I see a sock puppet with ears.”

Following the nightmare ink appointment, Marie and her boyfriend got in touch with the tattoo shop owner and sent him pictures of the ‘finished result’.

He allegedly told Marie to ‘let it heal’ and to ‘peel the scab off’ and then come back to the studio so he could ‘fix it’ for her.

“I don’t know if I’m gonna go back and let him fix it for me or if I’m just gonna go back to my original artists who I should have never cheated on in the first place,” Marie concluded. “But yeah, so I have the world’s ugliest banana tattoo on my finger.”
