A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder: Release date, cast, trailer & more
NetflixA new teen sleuth is heading to Netflix with her biggest case yet, so here’s everything you need to know about A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder including release date, cast, and more.
Book to movie adaptations have been all the rage in Hollywood from Harry Potter to The Hunger Games, so it’s really exciting to see a popular book series be turned into a TV series instead.
Netflix decided to tackle this new trend with their new show A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, which is based on Holly Jackson’s best-selling book trilogy.
The show will be based on Jackson’s first book and contain a ton of humor, dark twists, and some familiar faces. So let’s break down everything we know.
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder release date
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder will release on August 1 through Netflix.
Originally the series was only going to be shown in the UK and Ireland through BBC Three and BBC iPlayer.
However, Netflix just announced the show will be available to US viewers in August after the season is shown overseas.
The cast
The cast for A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is a mix of up-and-coming young adult actors and one very popular Gen Z actress.
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder cast:
- Emma Myers as Pippa (Pip) Fitz-Amobi
- Zain Iqbal as Ravi Singh
- India Lillie Davies as Andie Bell
- Rahul Pattni as Sal Singh
- Asha Banks as Cara Ward
- Carla Woodcock as Becca Bell
- Yasmin Al-Khudhairi as Naomi Ward
- Mathew Baynton as Elliot Ward
Most of the cast are fairly unknown to moderately popular British actors, but the stand out of the cast is undoubtedly Emma Myers, who plays the series lead.
Myers is best known for her role as Enid Sinclair in the Netflix hit series Wednesday, but she can be seen in other popular projects such as Family Switch and Girl in the Basement.
Executive Matthew Read and Frith Tiplady told Variety they didn’t intend to hire an American actor for the British series, but Myers “just did an incredible reading for us.”
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder plot
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder will follow Jackson’s first book in the series, so there won’t be any big spoilers here.
The synopsis for Jackson’s first novel reads: “The case is closed. Five years ago, schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered by Sal Singh. The police know he did it. Everyone in town knows he did it.
But, having grown up in the same small town that was consumed by the murder, Pippa Fitz-Amobi isn’t so sure. When she chooses the case as the topic for her final year project, she starts to uncover secrets that someone in town desperately wants to stay hidden. And if the real killer is still out there, how far will they go to keep Pip from the truth?”
Tiplady and Read have confirmed that, if Season 1 does well, future seasons will follow Jackson’s follow-up novels Good Girl, Bad Blood, and As Good as Dead.
