Is Big Daddy 2 coming out in 2025?

Dig out your Scuba Steve, because according to a viral Facebook post, Big Daddy 2 is hitting cinemas in 2025 – but is it true?

Adam Sandler has enjoyed an enormously successful and polarizing career. While he’s delivered acclaimed turns in Uncut Gems, Punch-Drunk Love, and The Meyerowitz Stories, he’s definitely best known for his legendary (and never-ending run) of goofball comedies.

The Sandman’s rise to fame in the ’90s was pretty quick, thanks to the back-to-back hits of Billy Madison and arguably his most iconic film, Happy Gilmore (and Happy Gilmore 2 is coming out this year).

However, 1999 marked the release of one of his legitimately good early efforts: Big Daddy – but don’t expect a sequel.

Is Big Daddy 2 happening?

No, Big Daddy 2 isn’t coming to cinemas in 2025, nor is the sequel in development.

You’ve been duped by a fake poster shared by YODA BBY ABY, with the page also claiming the film will be released in theaters in July this year – this is completely false and made to mislead people.

“Big Daddy 2 is here, and the laughs are bigger than ever. Cole Sprouse stars as Julian, now a new dad navigating life after tragedy, with Adam Sandler’s Sonny stepping in once again as the ultimate father figure,” the (made-up) caption reads.

“With baby hijinks, heartfelt moments, and hilarious clashes between Sonny and Joey Lauren Adams’ Layla, this unforgettable comedy hits cinemas in July 2025 – don’t miss it.”

Trust us, it isn’t happening.

What about Big Grand Daddy?

An earlier poster suggested that Big Grand Daddy was in development for Netflix – this is also completely false.

As usual, this rumor came from a fake poster shared by YODA BBY ABY on Facebook, which claimed the sequel would drop on the streaming platform in June 2025. This is unequivocally false.

The caption reads: “Get ready to laugh and love all over again with Big Grand Daddy, the long-awaited sequel to the 1999 hit Big Daddy, featuring Adam Sandler and Cole Sprouse as Sonny Koufax and his now-grown son Julian.

“In this heartwarming and hilarious follow-up, Julian and his wife navigate the joys and challenges of adoption, proving family is what you make it. Mark your calendars for a big, fun, exciting family comedy experience, exclusively on Netflix in June 2024.”

In 2019, Sandler was asked about the possibility of reuniting with Sprouse for a follow-up movie. “I won’t do that to him. He’s doing fine,” he joked.
