Blink Twice and It Ends With Us aren’t two movies you’d expect to pair together, but their marketing has been compared after Channing Tatum’s new horror film issued a trigger warning for audiences.

You’ve probably heard about It Ends With Us’ cast drama. Blake Lively’s promotion of the film (and how it’s addressed its domestic violence storyline) is one of many reasons for the outrage – alongside her now-viral resurfaced interview.

While the tragic “rom-com” has taken attention away from other films, Channing Tatum’s Blink Twice has been quietly building up to its release on August 23. Now, the new movie has released a trigger warning before it hits cinemas.

The statement reads: “Blink Twice is a psychological thriller about the abuse of power. While this is a fictionalized movie, it contains mature themes and depictions of violence – including sexual violence.

It’s a move that’s gone down well with fans, leaving some wondering if the Blake Lively movie would have avoided scrutiny if it had adopted the same approach.

“Is this shade towards It Ends With Us? If so…” one replied, with a second agreeing, “Blink Twice throwing some shade right at It Ends With Us!”

A third added, “If only that other movie bothered to do this… you know which one.”

“Pretty much the bare minimum. Good on MGM and the Blink Twice team for this,” a fourth weighed in.

Lively’s handling of the film’s plot has been branded as “tone deaf,” with one fan explaining, “Blake Lively really said ‘grab your friends and your florals’ to see a movie about domestic abuse. Tone deaf asf.”

Meanwhile, Blink Twice follows tech billionaire Slater King (Tatum) inviting cocktail waitress Frida (Naomi Ackie) for a dream vacation on a private island. However, as time begins to blur, Frida needs to hustle to make it out alive.

It Ends With Us is in theaters now, while Blink Twice lands on August 23. In the meantime, catch up with the best horror movies of all time and new movies streaming this month.
