Christspiracy filmmaker explains how documentary will “rewrite Christianity”
Trafalgar ReleasingKip Andersen, the filmmaker behind Cowspiracy and What the Health, is set to release a new documentary soon, titled Christspiracy: The Spirituality Secret. In an exclusive chat with Dexerto, he opened up about how the film will “rewrite Christianity.”
You could argue that two of the most contentious topics in America today are eating meat and religion, which is what makes Andersen and co-creator Kameron Waters so bold for tackling them both in their investigative documentary feature, which seeks to answer the question: is there a spiritual way to kill an animal?
This is far from the first time the filmmaker has tackled the topic of veganism, having created Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret, What the Health, and Seaspiracy, which examine the impact of animal product consumption and the meat and dairy industries on the wellbeing of the planet and ourselves.
Christspiracy instead focuses on the ethical side of eating meat. During their investigation, Andersen and Waters discovered what’s said to be the biggest coverup of the last 2,000 years. Ahead of its release, Dexerto caught up with Andersen, who explained why the film will “rewrite Christianity.”

Christspiracy involved a five-year journey that saw the pair traveling from Rome to Jerusalem, Oxford to India, speaking to theologians, archeologists, farmers, and shamans, all to explore the historical connection between religions and animals.
While the feature examines various faiths, a key focus is Christianity and the question of whether Jesus believed in killing animals for consumption. Along the way, Andersen and Waters uncover a series of major revelations that suggest the true meaning behind certain Bible passages and Jesus’ teachings have been changed.
New perspectives are derived about everything from the infamous “feeding the 5,000” verse to one of the most significant of the 10 commandments, not to mention a historical event that has major implications for the crucifixion.
“There’s some big revelations and it was one after another,” Andersen tells us. “That whole fascinating investigation and reveal, and finding out, ‘How has this been covered up for 2000 years?’ – it’s going to really rewrite Christianity.”
But, as he pointed out, the film is not a critique of religion. On the contrary, Andersen believes the discoveries will rewrite Christianity “for the better,” adding: “We’re not bashing Christianity at all. It’s really revealing the beautiful roots that started it.”
Christspiracy: The Spirituality Secret is coming to cinemas worldwide starting March 20, 2024 – you can buy or donate for tickets here, with 50% of the filmmakers’ net proceeds going to animal charities.
