Deadpool & Wolverine breaks record for most-watched trailer in a day
Marvel/DisneyThe Deadpool & Wolverine Super Bowl trailer has broken the record for the most-watched trailer over a 24-hour period.
The Merc with a Mouth is finally bringing his foul-mouthed, ultraviolent, fourth-wall-breaking schtick to the MCU.
Years after Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox and its roster of heroes (as well as its rogues gallery), we’ll soon see Deadpool tangle with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The first official trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine was dropped at the 2024 Super Bowl. The footage, which lasted just shy of two and a half minutes, revealed just how closely connected the anti-hero will now be to the greater MCU.
Throughout the trailer, Deadpool calls himself “Marvel Jesus”, references Disney and is even tracked down by the TVA. An organization that has only appeared in the Loki TV series.
Within just 24 hours, it garnered a massive audience online, breaking the record for the most viewed trailer in a single day.
Previously, the title was held by the first teaser trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home. The film trailer garnered 355.5 million views, according to Statista.
The first trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine managed to surpass these numbers, accumulating 365 million views in the first day.
Other notable trailers that have managed to bring in major numbers on release include the first Avengers Endgame trailer (289 million), the final trailer for Endgame (268 million) and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (257 million).
So while Deadpool & Wolverine may be the only MCU film to release in 2024, it’s fair to say that the hype train has well and truly taken off and is full steam ahead.
Deadpool & Wolverine is set to release in theatres on July 26, 2024.
