Emily in Paris returns – but it’s not what you think

Lily Collins as Emily in Paris

Lily Collins is back as Emily in Paris – but don’t go heading straight to Netflix to find Season 4, as it’s not what you think.

For Netflix subscribers, binge-watching an entire new season of Emily in Paris had become as much of a Christmas tradition as turkey and family feuds.

Although the first season may have started as a hate watch – delivering all the cliches you could imagine about an American marketing guru living in Paris – there’s just something about the glamorous, love-fuelled adventures of Emily that kept us coming back for more.

It’s escapism at its finest, which is why there was much anticipation for Season 4 last December. Although it didn’t arrive as expected, we did get a little taster this week.

Emily in Paris returns – but it’s not what you think

Lily Collins gets into her Emily in Paris character for a new 2024 Paris Olympics commercial, demonstrating her trademark marketing skills by promoting the design of a high-fashion (yet relentlessly impractical) uniform for sprinter Noah Lyles – designed by Pierre Cadault himself.

Although the boardroom isn’t convinced, Emily keeps going by putting her quirky spin on things before getting yet another Emily in Paris easter egg in there – a Champère Champagne spray (much to the group’s disdain).

Right at the end, she shares a snap on social media and Lyles wins the race with his gold cape in tow, before Emily tells the athlete, “We need to go bigger,” to which he says, “I can go bigger.”

Fans of the Netflix series have lapped up the crossover ad, with one writing, “Best promo ever!” “Love it,” said another, while a third added, “I knew she would be ready!”

Emily in Paris was one of many productions that faced delays in the wake of the now-resolved Hollywood strikes. While it was meant to start filming in summer 2023, the crew will now be heading back to Paris to shoot scenes this month (January 2024).

Right now, there is no release date set in stone – some sources suggest it might stick to its usual schedule in December, while others predict we’ll be seeing it in spring/summer.

You can find out all about Season 4 here, where we’ll drop any updates about the release date and more.
