For 2024, Netflix has dived deeper into creating original Korean movies for fans to explore alongside their upcoming K-dramas – like The Great Flood.

Fans are gearing up for an extensive year of K-dramas from Hellbound Season 2 to newcomers like The Frog. But 2024 will also include a handful of movies for fans to sink their teeth into. My Name is Loh Kiwan

Netflix released the official teaser for My Name is Loh Kiwan. The Korean movie for Netflix has been in the works for some time and stars Song Joong-ki as Ki-wan, a North Korean defector who seeks refuge in Belgium. With hopes of starting a new life in the country, he has to fight to get refugee status. He also soon meets Mari (Choi Sung-eun).

She too was Korean but revieced citizenship and was a former shooter. Unlike Ki-wan, Mari has no reason to live and the two get off on the wrong foot. They soon embark on a life journey and begin to fall in love.

Officer Black Belt

Kim Woo-bin and Kim Sung-kyun star in Netflix’s 2024 action-comedy movie Officer Black Belt.

According to Netflix, “Officer Black Belt is a riveting action-comedy film that masterfully intertwines the lives of a probation officer and a ‘martial arts officer’, as they fight crime in their own special and relentless ways.”

Lee Jung-do (Kim) has nine dans (ranks) ranging from Taekwondo, Kendo, and Judo. He delivers chicken for his father’s restaurant and appears as a run-of-the-mill guy. But he also has a knack for criminal investigation and soon meets a ‘martial arts officer’ when saving him from a criminal.

As a result, Jung-do is given a position to fill in as an officer and is partnered with Kim Sun-Min (Kim). Their work is as enforcers during dangerous situations and to monitor criminals. Jung-do’s immense talent leads his partner to recommend a full-time position.

The Great Flood

Park Hae-soo returns to Netflix in a Korean movie for 2024. The Squid Game and Money Heist actor will star in The Great Flood alongside Kim Da-mi. The sci-fi disaster movie focuses on trying to save a young child from a flooding apartment building. A big flood has wreaked havoc and swept the planet.

An-na (Kim Da-mi) and Hee-zo (Park Hae-soo) battle to survive the chaos. An-na is an AI developer for a human resource security team, with Hee-so trying to save her. But why?

Uprising

The last Korean movie in the roster coming from Netflix in 2024 is Uprising. This is the first project between Netflix and producer Park Chan-wook. Uprising is set a historical piece set in the Joseon era between to friends turned enemies.
