Halo actor Pablo Schreiber told SFX that he was vehemently against the idea of Master Chief having a sexual relationship with human-turned-Covenant agent Makee.

The Halo TV series is available exclusively on Paramount+ and was released in March 2022. The show is based on the popular video game franchise Halo, developed by 343 Industries and published by Xbox Game Studios.

The television show takes a real-life approach to the story of Master Chief, a super-soldier, as he battles against various threats, including the Covenant and the mysterious Forerunners. However, not all show aspects have remained faithful to the games.

One of the most controversial diversions from the game’s storyline was Master Chief succumbing to human desires by engaging in a relationship with Makee. Something that even Master Chief’s actor says he was not in favor of.

Pablo Schreiber “fought against” Master Chief having sex

As more video game titles hit the big screens, the lack of consistency in the story has received pushback from the actors themselves. Former Witcher actor Henry Cavill left his role as the main character after the studio refused to follow the story.

Now Schreiber is taking shots at Paramount for handling the relationship between Master Chief and Makee, saying he actively fought against the idea entirely.

“The decision to make the connection between Makee and John a romantic connection was a huge mistake,” said Schreiber. “I felt it was a huge mistake at the time and argued against it and fought against it. But I am who I am. I don’t write the scripts. I only give my opinion. It wasn’t listened to.”

The Paramount+ exclusive show is gearing up for its second season, which is set to premiere on February 8. However, it is unclear what the next season will bring to the show following Schreiber’s firm thoughts about how the directors were portraying the show.
