Hazbin Hotel fans realize terrible truth about fan-favorite character
Prime VideoHazbin Hotel is full of interesting characters who’ve done some evil deeds to land in Hell – but fans have come to realize Sir Pentious’s mysterious past is dark and evil.
In Hazbin Hotel, Sir Pentious is a snake character who wears an outfit similar to the Victorian era. He doesn’t appear to seem that bad in the series, and he also has a big redemption arc during the finale.
While Adam and his angels swoop down for the Extermination, Sir Pentious tries to protect his friends. He goes guns blazing in a weapons-equipped ship and wearing a general’s uniform, only to be killed in seconds. The Hazbin Hotel finale ends on a cliffhanger when Sir Pentious is reborn in Heaven for his sacrifice.
The adult animated series doesn’t dive into his backstory or what he did to land in Hell. Some fans have uncovered a startling truth.
Hazbin Hotel fans realize Sir Pentious was a bad man
According to a Reddit thread, Sir Pentious died in 19th century London when the British ruled over India – leading fans to realize Sir Pentious did evil things.
In the thread, a fan points out that it was confirmed the character died during the 19th century. A deep dive into history revealed that Britain seized control over India and ruled over it between 1757 and 1858. Hazbin Hotel also has Sir Pentious as a snake character similar to the banded krait native to India.
The snake is also venomous, but it serves as a larger illustration of Sir Pentious’s dark backstory. Based on the details, it implies that Sir Pentious likely had his hand in their oppression or deaths.
On Reddit, some fans believe he was an investor during the time. “I think he fits better as a factory owner during The Industrial Revolution, his sins would be the amount of workers who died due to the lack of safety restrictions and him trying to cover it up, but the British Empire colonialist thing is a good idea too.”
“I wouldn’t be surprised if he had a very wealthy family and was just handed a super-high rank in some army. He probably killed a ton of people, both allies and enemies and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was missing most of his shots and was killing random citizens all of the time. I hope this gets explored further in the show,” said another fan.
One fan posted a photo of a British man and what is presumed his Indian houseworkers. A fan commented it ties into Sir Pentious’s eggbois henchmen.
The sudden realization that Sir Pentious is in Hell for a reason had one fan commenting, “I think this serves as a great reminder that although we are rooting for the sinners in the hotel to be redeemed, they are still sinners, they did some bad shit up here and now they’re down there paying the price for it. I heard a rumor that season 2 is gonna go into the backstory of some of the residents and how they ended up in hell, I think we’re gonna see a lot of people upset when they find out.”
Hazbin Hotel Season 2 will hopefully explore more of his story as he’s now an angel in Heaven.
