Hazbin Hotel, Prime Video’s hit animated series, is set to return for Season 2 – and it could be released sooner than expected.

The finale of Hazbin Hotel left the door open to explore a much bigger continuing storyline as Charlie and the others stop the Extermination. It was also revealed that Charlie’s plans for redemption are possible as Sir Pentious was brought back but as an angel in Heaven.

Season 1 also ended with the biggest cliffhanger of them all – Lilith’s whereabouts. The supposed queen of Hell has been hiding away on the beaches of Heaven. Why? We’ll find out, as Season 2 is already in the works.

But its release date is unknown, as the animated series will take some time to develop fully – but recent news gives an update on a timeframe.

Hazbin Hotel creator gives Season 2 update

Hazbin Hotel Season 2 likely won’t be released until for a year-and-a-half, if not two years, as revealed by creator Vivienne Medrano.

In an interview with ScreenRant, she explained that she has no idea of an expected release date, but due to prior experience with Season 1, she had a rough timeline in mind.

“Definitely not as long. I’m a big advocate for letting things take the time they need. And production, I mean, I literally actually don’t know the projected release date or aim or anything like that, but roughly season one took about one-and-a-half, two years. So I think it’s probably similar, just because we are in the early stages. However, that’s not nearly as long of a wait, and that’s kind of a normal wait for animation. So it’ll be a normal wait for animation. But I do think it’ll be worth it,” she explained.

The pilot for Hazbin Hotel originally aired on YouTube in 2019 and took a few years to fully develop before Prime Video released a full-fledged series. Unlike live actions, animated series take more time due to voice recording, animation development, and a lot more editing involved. After all, there are no physical scenes to film and animations take creating and editing every movement and second.

Erika Henningsen, who voices Charlie, already teased that she was back in the recording booth working on Season 2.

Hazbin Hotel Season 2 will have a lot to answer for as Adam is now dead, Charlie’s rehabilitation proves true, Lute has her own plan up her sleeve, and Lilith’s involvement with Heaven.
