Henry Cavill roasted after calling out “overused” sex scenes
Relativity MediaOne of Hollywood’s hottest stars, Henry Cavill, is now being roasted on social media after calling out “overused” sex scenes – and fans have the receipts.
From Immortals to The Witcher – and now Matthew Vaughn spy comedy Argylle – Henry Cavill is something of a sex symbol to many.
In fact, it only takes a few rows of Google images to find pictures of his characters shirtless, or cosying up to his female lead in a particularly intimate scene.
Even so, Cavill has now stated that the medium of sex scenes is “overused” in movies – and fans have wasted no time in calling him out on it.
Henry Cavill roasted after criticizing “overused” sex scenes
During a recent interview with Josh Horowitz, Argylle star Henry Cavill stated that sex scenes are “overused” in movies – and social media is roasting him for it.
Cavill can be heard saying in the YouTube interview: “I don’t understand them. I’m not a fan. There are circumstances where a sex scene actually is beneficial to a movie, rather than just the audience, but I think sometimes they’re overused these days.”
While his leading roles in programs like The Witcher sometimes lean into being sexualized, reports suggest that there’s actually less sex on screen that ever before.
Variety reported back in October that almost half of Gen Z want less sex scenes in what they consume, while plenty of industry commentary has already pondered why intimacy has already dwindled from TV and movies in the first place.
To some fans, Henry Cavill’s comments seem out of touch with what’s actually happening on screen.
“Is it just me? Or sex scenes are scarce these days,” one fan posted in response to the interview quote, with another adding: “There are way less these days. There’s a study somewhere out there that has the arts.”
“What is he yapping about lmao,” a third commented, with a fourth musing: “‘Overused these days’ my guy there are less sex scenes than ever these days, it’s been on the decline for decades” while quoting a survey.
“Movies now barely have any sex scene compared to the 80/90’s, what is blud even talking about ? What top 10 movie of 2024 had a sex scene apart from Oppenheimer? A biopic where it was crucial to the relationship of Oppie and Jean, he even said it’s most quoted phrase here,” a fifth agreed.
