House of the Dragon cut beloved character from finale and now everyone’s mad

House of the Dragon Season 2’s closing montage teased the fate of almost every character in the Game of Thrones spinoff – though someone was notably missing.

Whether you loved it or hated it, House of the Dragon Season 2’s final episode gave a definitive overview of where everyone was headed. Everyone except Cregan Stark, that is.

The Lord of Winterfell was first introduced in the opening scene of Season 2, with a small glimpse of the partnership between him and Jacaerys Velaryon. Although only appearing for a few moments, House of the Dragon viewers loved getting a glimpse of the Starks of Westeros past.

However, he didn’t appear at all in the finale, despite the Northern army (also known as the Winter Wolves) marching towards their fate. But, as it turns out, Cregan Stark was actually supposed to be featured.

In the scene in question, he would have been shown marching with his army across the Twins. In the aired version, it’s merely a shot of the soldiers themselves moving forward.

Knowing a scene with Cregan was shot and simply cut from the final edit is a tough pill to swallow for some fans, who wanted to see more of the lord from the moment they first met him.

As one X/Twitter user wrote: “Surely some of those Tyland scenes could’ve been skipped to make room for him.”

“How does Cregan Stark not make the cut? Especially with the way that episode went,” another said.

Another threatened: “HBO count your days.”

“Someone tell me if this is true because if they cut him from the final scene I’m hopping on my dragon and we are going to lay waste to something,” said another.

The Season 2 finale chose to tease what was to come in House of the Dragon Season 3 instead of ending on a climactic battle. It was a move that’s caught the wrath of many fans, with many claiming that this season was closer to a “trailer” than anything else.
