Does Inside Out 2 have a post-credits scene?
DisneyMore drama means more emotions, and Anxiety is trying to rule the roost. But does Inside Out 2 have a post-credits scene?
Being a teenager is hard, and new Disney Pixar sequel Inside Out 2 is finally giving a voice to the young kids who can’t keep up with their own feelings.
In our four-star review, we said: “Proving that Disney is back on form, it’s undeniably the most successful sequel — and maybe movie outright — that the studio has had in years. Trust me… you’ve never wanted to have Anxiety more.”
With the 2015 original becoming one of the best animated movies of the decade, fans are sure to be glued to their cinema seats. But does Inside Out 2 have a post-credits scene? Warning: Spoilers ahead!
Does Inside Out 2 have a post-credits scene?
Yes, Inside Out 2 does have a post-credits scene, with another scene in the mid-credits.
During Inside Out 2, Anxiety throws Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, and Fear out of Riley’s control room, she tries to take over and execute her fresh plan — give Riley new high school friends by completely changing who she is.
Tearing her apart from her two friends, Riley feels the pressure of performing well at the scrimmage, which is how the high school coach chooses who makes their team, according to others.
Anxiety causes Riley to believe she isn’t good enough, leading her to become obsessive about scoring more goals than the current record. In doing so, she takes out another player, having a panic attack when she’s sent to the penalty box.
Thankfully, Joy is able to get the gang back into the control center and learns a valuable lesson — Riley has to grow her own sense of self rather than use one her emotions have given her. She makes up with her two middle school friends before later finding out that she made the Firehawks, which is the high school ice hockey team.
In the meantime, Joy finds a way to soothe Anxiety when she gets panicked, and Embarrassment starts to come out of his shell.
What happens in the post-credits scene?
In the mid-credits scene, we explore Riley’s mom and dad’s added emotions after she comes back from her trip to ice hockey camp. In the post-credits scene, Joy heads back to the vault to find out what Riley’s dark secret is.
As the Inside Out 2 credits begin to roll, Riley can be seen returning from camp, with her mom asking how it was. The emotions fight over how much of the drama to tell her, and Ennui wins out. Riley delivers a cool “it was fine.”
We then cross over to mom’s emotions, who cannot believe that Riley’s been gone for three whole days and does not have anything more to say than that. Mom’s Anxiety makes its first appearance, claiming that Riley’s evasiveness could mean she’s joined a gang. The other emotions welcome her back and try to get her settled down.
Much like we saw in the original movie, dad’s emotions are much more chilled out. Reluctant to get involved but wanting to toe the line so mom isn’t mad, they agree to stay well out of any drama.
Fast forward to the post-credits and Joy is heading back to the vault to find out what Riley’s dark secret is — something we met earlier on in the movie. The answer? Riley burned a hole in the carpet as a child, and didn’t want her parents finding out.
Inside Out 2 is in theaters from June 14. Check out what else Disney has in store, including Moana 2, Frozen 3, and Mufasa: The Lion King.
