Is Rita Moreno in The Prank?

Star of the original West Side Story among other hit movies, Rita Moreno is a legend. But is she in The Prank? Here’s what we know.

At 92 years old, you might assume that Rita Moreno isn’t in many modern movies and TV shows – but this couldn’t be further from the truth.

Alongside her original turn as Anita in the 1961 version of West Side Story, she’s recently appeared in 80 for Brady, Fast X, and Netflix comedy series One Day at a Time.

Now fans think they’ve spotted her in new film The Prank – but is Rita Moreno in the movie? Here’s everything you need to know.

Yes, Rita Moreno is in The Prank.

In the movie, Moreno plays Mrs. Wheeler, a high school physics teacher. The official synopsis reads: “Ben and his slacker friend, Tanner play a prank on their high school physics professor. When she fails them on a test, they teach the demanding instructor a lesson by falsely accusing her of murder on social media.”

While speaking on The View earlier this week, Moreno stated that Mrs. Wheeler is “the best role I’ve had in years.”

She continued: “It’s hilarious. It’s really a little cult movie.” Speaking about her character, she added: “I just thought, how am I going to play this terrible person? And I thought of all the women in my life – particularly in show business – who’d really been awful to me – all of these b**ches.

“I said to myself, I thought, I’m going to use all of the things that they did with me and my little Puerto Rican past, and that’s what I do. And boy was that fun! I would finish a take and go, wepa, así se hace!”

Moreno also had a huge hand in designing Mrs. Wheeler’s appearance, explaining: “I designed that horrible haircut, with the bangs that are too short. All of the clothing we got from Goodwill. I said, I do not want her to dress well. She’s mean in spirit and mean in everything.”

The Prank currently has a 41% rating on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer – which isn’t too brilliant, all things considered.
