Is Young Sheldon over?
CBSAs one of the most popular shows in the US, Young Sheldon is the saga no one wants to give up. But is the show over? Here’s what we know.
Sheldon Cooper is a name almost every household in America is likely to know, whether that’s through his initial introduction in 2007’s The Big Bang Theory or the follow-up prequel series Young Sheldon.
While TBBT was the pinnacle of TV in its time, it’s possible that Young Sheldon has out-performed it, beating out huge shows like Suits to top viewership rankings multiple times over.
Though the Sheldon-verse in its entirety might not be completely finished, is Young Sheldon officially over? Here’s everything you need to know.
Is Young Sheldon over?
Young Sheldon isn’t quite over just yet – but it will be after Season 7 finishes airing.
The seventh and final season will begin airing its 14 episodes on February 15, meaning the show will wrap up for good on May 16.
However, fans don’t need to worry just yet, as Young Sheldon still has plenty of ground to cover before it’s through. So far, only solid details for Season 7 Episodes 1 and 2 have been revealed, with the first official synopsis reading: “News of the tornado reaches Sheldon and Mary in Germany. Also, with the Cooper house in chaos, Missy steps up.” Episode 2 focuses on Sheldon as he “realizes he is the weakest student in his class. Meemaw is looking to expand her gambling business.”
The title for Episode 3 has also been recently revealed, branded as “A Strudel and a Hot American Boy Toy.” This could be concerning for some fans, with previous rumors of Mary potentially cheating in Season 7 having recently come to the fore.
While fans are still guessing how the rest of the series is set to pan out, the main point of contention surrounds whether Season 7 will show George Cooper Snr.’s impending death or keep it offscreen.
One fan prediction for the ending reads: “George dies. Sheldon goes to Cal Tech. Missy continues to break bad. Mary gets even more religious and forgives Brenda. Connie and Dr. Sturgis get married or live together. Dale gets kicked to the curb. Pastor Jeff gets caught cheating on his wife.
“Georgie and Mandy get married. Georgie starts working at Mandy’s dad’s tire shop which he eventually inherits or buys out. They get their own TV show.”
Another disagrees, stating: “The last episode will be the wedding. Sheldon’s voiceover says that it was the last time they were all together because George died three months ago later or something and gives updates on everyone.”
So far, only a future sequel concerning Georgie and Mandy’s family life has been confirmed beyond Season 7.
