Kevin Costner has an unexpected update on relationship with Taylor Sheridan
ParamountIt might be the end for John Dutton, but Kevin Costner has just revealed that he would be up for working with Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan again in the future.
When it was announced in 2023 that Costner would be leaving Yellowstone and, subsequently, Sheridan’s show was coming to an early end, all eyes were on the two biggest cowboy creatives working right now.
Rumors of Costner-Sheridan feud quickly spread, and everything from salary disputes to scheduling issues seemed to be the cause of the problem. However, there doesn’t appear to be any bad blood on Costner’s side. The actor recently addressed his relationship with Sheridan (via Entertainment Weekly), and confirmed that, given the chance, he’d be open to working with him again.
“No, we haven’t [talked],” Costner said. “He’s doing special work in a lot of different ways. He’s very prolific about the things he does, and if he sees me in something that he wants to do, I’ll look at it just the way I did Yellowstone and maybe we will end up doing something together.”
Costner served as Sheridan’s leading Yellowstone cast member since the show first aired in 2018. He also addressed how the two have similar taste when it comes to what projects they prefer to take on — with the Western genre no doubt inspiring the both of them.
“He likes a lot of the things that I like, and the idea of us working together is not out of the question for me,” he added. “The subjects he chooses are very interesting to me. I like a lot of that stuff. Yellowstone stands as something that could continue. But that is a Taylor question. But other things that he’s doing I think are really, really good. He likes the same subjects that I do.”
This begs the question: if Costner were to rejoin Sheridan’s world, where would he fit in? With production on Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 set to begin imminently, it’ll be too late for him to rejoin the Dutton ranks. However, Sheridan does have a long list of other projects that don’t take place within the Yellowstone world, as proven by his most recent show in development, Landman.
